Staff shaken after robbery in North Tyneside

Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery in North Tyneside.

At 10.43pm on Wednesday, September 30, officers received a report of a robbery at The One Stop shop, Seatonville Road in Whitley Bay, where an offender entered the shop and demanded money from the till before making off in the direction of Cauldwell Avenue.

Staff were left shaken after the incident but were not injured.

The offender is described as a white man, 6”ft 2 tall, of medium build and brown eyes. He had acne scarred skin and spoke with a local accent.

Enquiries into the robbery are ongoing and anyone who may have information to help is asked to contact police.

Detective Inspector Dave English said: “We’re keen to hear from anyone who may have been in Seatonville Road at around 10.30pm last night and may have seen an offender of this description in the area.

“Enquiries are ongoing into the incident and we encourage anyone who may have information to help or have seen anything suspicious to contact police.

“Extra officers will remain in the area this morning to carry out enquiries and speak with people to offer reassurance.”
