Backworth Post Office reopened at a former site in Backworth Stores in Ashbourne Close.

The service will be provided at a post office serving point in the store, where the terminal will sit alongside the retail till.

Officials say robust security procedures are in place, while anyone handling post office transactions, including new staff, will be fully trained on all operational and service issues. This will include customer privacy to ensure they meet post office standards.

Post office services will be available seven day a week during the store’s opening hours, 7.30am to 7.30pm Monday to Saturday, and 8am to 2pm and 5pm to 7.30pm on Sunday.

The reopened Backworth Post Office is delighted to be welcoming customers back.

Customers will be able to access a range of post office and mail services, including special delivery, Local Collect and home shopping returns.

And they can also take advantage of a wide range of banking services, including cash withdrawals, deposits and balance enquiries for customers of all the main UK banks.

Gail Burnett, post office area network change manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.”

She added: “We are confident that this vibrant reopened post office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.”
