Television star Amanda Lamb has raised £30,000 for Sara’s Hope Foundation by taking part in a quiz show.

The presenter appeared in All Star Mr & Mrs with her husband Sean and, after reaching the final, scooped the jackpot for the Whitley Bay charity, which sends families who have children affected by life-limiting or terminal illnesses to a holiday home in Crete.

Founder Ged Hoburn, who set up the charity with his wife Julie in memory of their daughter Sara, said: “The show was filmed around a month ago and Amanda was sworn to secrecy by the TV bosses.

“Julie and I, with one of Sara’s families and a few close friends went to watch the show at a local taverna and there was an almighty scream when Amanda and Sean answered the last question correctly and won the jackpot of £30,000 – we were ecstatic.

“This was a massive boost for the charity and will fund flights for 20 special families next year who are living with childhood cancer.”

The Place in the Sun star said to Ged: “So, so wish we could have been there with you all. We are beyond delighted to have won it for you. Cannot think of a more worthy cause. Lots of love to all of you.”
