Steel parts worth £13k stolen from water board yard

METAL worth more than £13,000 has been stolen from a Northumbrian Water compound in North Shields.

Police are appealing for witnesses after thieves broken into the site, in Northumberland Dock Road, between 9pm on Monday, November 21, and 9pm on Friday, December 2.

Three large stainless steel locating cones and one stainless steel lower nozzle locating assembly component, together valued at £13, 839, were stolen from palettes.

Detective Inspector Neil Brotherton, of North Tyneside CID, said: “These large items will have taken some time to remove and load up into a vehicle to drive away.

“We’re asking for anyone who may have seen people acting suspiciously or who has seen strange vehicles in the area to contact police.”
