Couples who found love at an iconic building are being sought for a special project.
A heritage project is looking to capture people’s memories of the Spanish City Dome in Whitley Bay and if they found love or made friends for life.
The North Tyneside Council-funded Romance in the Dome project will be delivered by North Tyneside VODA (Voluntary Organisations Development Agency).
They are currently collecting memories, photographs and artefacts around the Dome’s vivid history and are looking for people to get in touch who formed relationships there or have special memories of friendships made at the venue.
VODA is particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have old cinefilm footage of dances at the Dome as a specially-made documentary will also be produced as part of the project.
To share a story about the Dome or find out more about the project contact Laura Watson, at VODA, on (0191) 643 2628 or email email@example.com
Mayor Norma Redfearn said: “People have so many lovely memories of the Spanish City because back in its heyday it was the place to be. It was a truly magical place that was special to many people.
“Good friends were made, romances blossomed, some hearts were broken but many more went on to marry or form lifelong partnerships after falling in love under the Dome’s magnificent ceiling.”
