Pupils have bid a fond farewell to two members of staff who have worked at their school for nearly 60 years between them.
Lindy Jackson started as a mid-day supervisor at Monkhouse Primary School, in North Shields, on October 27, 1986, while Gina Henderson started on March 9, 1987.
And last Friday, staff and students held a special assembly to bid the pair a happy retirement.
Headteacher Laura Baggett said: “We said goodbye to two committed and loyal members of the staff team. They have worked with three different headteachers.
“Gina’s own children and now grandchildren have been through the school and has many fond memories of her time in school.”
She added: “We wish them well in their retirement.”
Lindy said: “I remember serving the children soup from a large pot at the table. We had to say grace before lunch every day.”
During the special assembly, the children recalled the major events in world history since 1986 to understand the gravitas of their long service.
