A SAILOR from North Shields has his foot firmly on the promotion ladder after completing a five week course at the Defence Maritime Logistics School, HMS Raleigh.

Leading Logistician and supply chain specialist Matthew Tallentyre will now take a leading role in ensuring that his ship or unit has the supplies it needs to operate all over the world.

The former Monkseaton High School student joined the Royal Navy in 2006 and is currently serving at HMS Neptune in Scotland. His responsibilities include the ordering and storing of millions of pounds worth of equipment, from engineering parts to stationery.

The 24-year-old said: “I’m very pleased to be promoted and look forward to the future.”
