Supermarket staff and customers raise more than £4,000 for helicopter charity

STAFF and customers at a Whitley Bay supermarket have raised more than £4,00 for charity.

Over the past year staff at Sainsbury’s on Newsteads Drive in the town, have raised £4,750 for the Great North Air Ambulance with a string of events including raffles, Easter egg and bonnet competitions, dress down days, tombolas and sponsored events.

Alison Ward, PR ambassador for the supermarket, said: “The store would like to thank everyone for their support for this very worthy cause.

“We are delighted to have raised so much.”
