Teaming up for new style apprenticeships
A major North Tyneside employer has teamed up with college staff to offer a new type of apprenticeship.
Siemens, which is based in Cobalt Business Park, is building on its relationship with Tyne Metropolitan College to deliver business administration apprenticeships for the wind power industry.
The business is a global leader in large wind turbine generators, driving new technology, and the chosen apprentices will experience a wide range of Siemens’ departments.
The four-year apprenticeship programme has been developed with TyneMet following previous successful training partnerships with the college.
Siemens head of training Carl Robb said: “It was a natural choice for Siemens to partner with TyneMet following the successful apprenticeship schemes that have been running with TyneMet for blue collar positions, which have been extremely well received.
“The TyneMet business development team is responsive, engaged and, crucially, flexible to the ever-changing needs of our business landscape, helping to match our complex workforce needs perfectly.”
TyneMet head of apprenticeships Pat Blyth said: “We are delighted that Siemens has appointed the college as its apprenticeship provider. The demand for apprenticeships has increased in recent years as a growing number of employers see it as a valuable workforce asset.”
