Teen jailed after breaking in to Whitley Bay restaurant

A teenager has been jailed after breaking in to a Whitley Bay restaurant.

Connor Sproat, of Esplanade Avenue, Whitley Bay, was convicted of burglary when appearing at North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.

The 19-year-old was jailed for 28 weeks.

The offence happened at Turknaz Restaurant, North Parade, Whitley Bay, in the early hours of Monday, February 27.

Sproat gained access to the restaurant, searched the bar area and stole the cash till and alcohol before leaving.

After the case, Neighbourhood Sergeant Lisa Henderson said: “We are committed to tackling burglary whether it occurs at businesses or homes in North Tyneside.

“Bringing offenders before the courts remains a priority for us and we will not stop targeting those we believe to be responsible for such crimes which we know causes concern in our communities.

“We want to make sure offenders are caught and face the consequences of their actions.”
