Teen ready for Miss Galaxy

A borough teenager is preparing to head off to represent her country at a national gala.

Harriotte Lane is heading off to represent the region in the UK finals of Miss Galaxy on February 7.

The 13-year-old, from West Allotment, was named Miss Teen Charity Great Britain last August for all her charity work, which included raising more than £5,000 for charity and volunteering at other events.

Since then, Harriotte has raised a further £5,500 for charity, including The Christie Cancer Trust, Macmillan, Tiny Lives, and The Kayaks.

Harriotte said: “I’m hoping to do the region proud and demonstrate at a national level just how amazing our regions teens are.”

At the end of the month she is off to Kielder with The Kayaks, an autistic children’s group, as a thank you for helping fundraise and getting local businesses to donate.

As well as fundraising, Harriotte has taken the time to make a difference with her time.

Over Christmas she attended disabled children’s parties as Cinderella and visited St Oswald’s Hospice to drop off toys and sweets for the children, again dressed as Cinderella and spent time with the children.
