Tenants to have say on houses and community

Council tenants in Howdon are being given a chance on how their properties and community could be improved.

More than 120 staff from North Tyneside Homes, the council’s housing service, will be a visible presence in the area on Wednesday, June 25.

They will visit every council tenant to get their views on their home and area and what could be done to improve it.

Housing staff will be joined by colleagues from Adult Social Care and Environmental Services to help deal with any issues that arise.

On Thursday, June 26, North Tyneside Homes is set to host an open event at Howdon Community Centre from 10am to 3pm.

It will bring together housing services, environmental services, voluntary organisations, training providers, local schools, police, fire service and many more to answer questions and hold some fun activities.

North Tyneside Homes’ Financial Inclusion Team will be on hand to help customers save up to £140 on their fuel bills and there will be an opportunity to find out about a new scheme called ‘Grow and Eat North Tyneside’, designed to help people grow and eat their own healthy fruit and vegetables.
