Thousands of music lovers enjoyed a music festival on both sides of the Tyne last weekend.

Programmed and delivered by events company Kittle in association with the Customs House and North Tyneside Council, the two-day Bernicia Festival showcased the best of the north east music scene with Hyde & Beast, Bridie Jackson, The Lake Poets, Boy Jumps Ship and Sam Fender.

The festival kicked off in South Tyneside on Saturday before moving to the newly renovated Spanish City Plaza in Whitley Bay on Sunday, where more than 2,000 people came to enjoy the music.

Festival organiser Emma Howe said: “We couldn’t have wished for a better turnout.

“Our Sunday at Spanish City Plaza was unbelievable.

“North Tyneside Council provided us with a great platform to host some top acts and allowed us to accommodate for a much larger capacity than we had anticipated.”
