Thousands of books are set to go on sale in one of the biggest sales in the region.

Around 40,000 second-hand books will be available at the annual Linskill Book Fair from Friday, May 29, to Sunday, May 31, from 9am to 5pm each day.

We’re always amazed by the quality of the books that come in for the Book Fair

Books will cost either £1 or 50p at the event being held in the Linskill Centre, North Shields.

Visitors will also able to try their hand at bookbinding, calligraphy and creative writing.

Volunteer Kathleen Benson said: “We’re always amazed by the quality of the books that come in for the Book Fair and we’re very grateful to everyone who has donated books for the sale. There’s definitely going to be something for everyone on sale and whether you’re a casual reader or a regular bookworm this is going to be an unmissable event.”

All proceeds go towards community activities of the centre.
