Whitley Bay Scouts have been collecting books, CDs, DVDs and jigsaws over the last four weeks for their annual book sale.

The sale – the Scouts main fund-raising event of the year – has been running annually for more than 15 years and attracts customers from all over the North East.

A spokesman for the District said: “We have had a great response from the public and are very grateful to everyone who has donated books. We have a team of volunteers who will sort all the books alphabetically and in their categories before the sale.”

The sale is to be held at the District Scout Headquarters, Quarry Centre, Broadway, Cullercoats, from February 21 to 26, taking place Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm; Sunday, 11am to 3pm; and Tuesday to Thursday, 7pm to 9pm.
