Health bosses are celebrating after picking up two top industry awards.
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust won two awards at the CHKS Top Hospitals programme 2013.
The trust was named one of the 40 best performing NHS organisations in England for the sixth consecutive year.
For the second time, the trust also won the CHKS data quality award, which recognises the importance of clinical coding and data quality.
Trust chief executive Jim Mackey said: “To be named, once again, as one of the country’s top performing trusts is fantastic news for our patients and staff.
“We pride ourselves on providing the highest possible standards of care and to achieve a top hospital award for six consecutive years is wholly down to the hard work and commitment of our staff.
“I would like to thank them all for their efforts and the very important role they play in helping us to continuously improve quality.
“These national awards celebrate excellence in the areas which really matter to patients and are an important marker of the care we provide.”
