A replacement bus service for a pedestrian tunnel will continue over part of the Christmas holidays.
The North East Combined Authority, owners of the Tyne Pedestrian and Cyclist Tunnels, have announced the holiday schedule for the transport services during the tunnels refurbishment.
The free timetabled shuttle bus service will continue to operate throughout the holiday period from 6am to 8pm, except on Christmas Day. The service will end at 8pm on Christmas Eve and restart at 6am on Boxing Day.
The Night Service for registered commuters will continue to operate as normal, including Christmas Eve, Christmas Night and New Year’s Eve.
The historic Grade II listed Tyne Pedestrian and Cyclist Tunnels – which link Howdon and Jarrow – were closed in May 2013 for a £7m refurbishment. They are expected to reopen in summer 2015.
