Two in court over murder

TWO teenagers have appeared in court over the murder of a young man in Camperdown.

Rikki Todd, 19, from Camperdown, was assaulted in the early hours of Christmas Eve last year outside he Halfway House pub in Station Road, Camperdown.

He suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle where he died on Tuesday, December 27.

Two 17-year-old men were charged with his murder and appeared before North Tyneside Magistrates Court on Tuesday, April 17.

They will be back at magistrates court next Tuesday to be committed to crown court, with a bail application being heard at Newcastle Crown Court today (Thursday).

Three other young men – aged 15, 18 and 19 – who were arrested in connection with the death, have been told they will face no further police action.
