Tynemouth been named as among the best places to live in Britain.
It is on the list of the top spots to live in the North East and Yorkshire as part of The Sunday Times Best Places to Live guide.
The guide is published in two parts and this weekend, it reveals the best places to live in the North East and Yorkshire, the South East, East, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. Part two, published on Sunday, March 20, will reveal the best places in the South West, Midlands, London and the North West, as well as the overall best place to live in the UK.
Joining Tynemouth is Newcastle Quayside, Rothbury and Low Newton-by-the-Sea in Northumberland, Harrogate, Chester-le-Street, Durham, Helmsley, Horsforth, Leyburn, Richmond, Kelham, Skipton, Thirsk and York.
Of these, Tynemouth, the Quayside, Low Newton, Rothbury, Durham and Chester-le-Street have been named as among the best places to live in the UK, while Harrogate, in North Yorkshire, is crowned the Best Place to Live in the North East of England and Yorkshire.
The annual supplements combine data and statistics such as crime rates, house prices and school performance with the local knowledge and expertise of Sunday Times writers to compile the definitive top locations to make your home. The locations were selected for offering the best quality of life to the widest number of people, and combining desirable features such as a positive community spirit, good local shops and services and attractive outdoor spaces.
