Vehicles rescued after being submerged on beach

Two vehicles were rescued after getting stuck on a beach then swamped by the incoming tide.

A van is believed to have got stuck on Cullercoats beach this afternoon (Monday) after launching a jet-ski into the bay.

A Range Rover trying to help pull it to safety then got stuck, with both vehicles being submerged by the incoming tide.

Rescue teams from nearby Cullercoats Lifeboat Station, watched on by a large crowd on the beach and promenade, helped pull both vehicles to safety.
