Jasmine Steel suffers from degenerative sight conditions which means she is slowly losing her sight.

One of the 18-year-old's biggest enjoyments out of life was reading but her condition has left her unable to read books - until now.

Her teacher Christian Hebron, at Percy Hedley School, in Killingworth, took part in a Coast to Coast cycle, raising £1,000 towards a machine to help her read again.

And on Tuesday, she was given a chance to test out the machine by Humanware.

The fund-raising is being supported by Smile For Life Children's Charity which are looking to crowd-fund the rest of the £3,000 needed to buy the machine.

As Jasmine says - all her life things are changing every day.....
