Staff from the Rising Sun Country Park, near Benton, are on the hunt for volunteers as they look to revive the successful community group, the Friends of the Rising Sun.

The group will work with park staff and wardens to promote, develop and maintain the park.

Coun John Stirling, cabinet member for the environment, said: “The Friends of the Park were instrumental in reclaiming the park, helping us to promote its history and heritage. They helped us to transform it to the park as we know it today.

“We are seeking a diverse group of local people who can commit some of their spare time to help us with new activities and projects such as the renovation of the dipping pond.”

An informal discussion is being held at 12.30pm on Friday, February 19, at the Rising Sun Countryside Centre.
