Volunteers sought to help park wardens

Residents are being sought for a new volunteer team looking after three Wallsend parks.

They will help North Tyneside Council’s Wallsend Parks team look after and monitor Richardson Dees Park, Wallsend Hall Grounds and Prince Road Arboretum.

Tasks include litter picking, small tree clearances, repairs and maintaining the Forgotten Orchard.

Gareth Roberts, a warden within the Wallsend Parks team, said: “Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, get out in the fresh air and enjoy yourself.

“This is a good opportunity for people to get involved in upholding the standards we have for the parks, making it more enjoyable for everyone who uses them.”

A taster session will be held on February 4, from 10.30am to 12.30pm. After this session, there will be regular volunteer work days every Wednesday throughout the year.

Anyone interested can book their place on the taster session by sending an email to gareth.roberts@northtyneside.gov.uk
