Ten Cadets spent two weekends working with St John Ambulance’s Liam Reilly to earn themselves first aid qualifications.

Included in the course was lessons in dealing with major and minor bleeding, broken bones, asthma, climate-related injuries, heart attacks and other emergencies.

Three days of training were followed by a day of tests and undertaking scenarios.

Fl/Lt Nigel Yarrow, the Burnside Business and Enterprise College-based unit’s commander, said: “It is pleasing to be able to see young people from the borough gaining life skills while having fun and getting away from a computer screen.”
