A pub is offering Macmillan nurses a free meal to thank them for their hard work.
As part of its Macmillan May fund-raising drive, the Walls End Hungry Horse pub in Middle Engine Lane, Wallsend, is inviting all Macmillan nurses to enjoy free dishes from its Pub Faves menu every Sunday throughout May.
To claim the meal, Macmillan nurses and professionals simply need to present Macmillan identification when placing an order.
Mark Hedley, general manager at the Walls End, said: “Macmillan nurses work tirelessly to support people with cancer, and their care makes such a difference in the local community.
“We’re proud to support Macmillan and want to reward them, so we hope they take up our offer to enjoy one our Pub Faves dishes on us every Sunday throughout May.”
Since 2012, Greene King team members and guests have raised more than £2.9million through the charity partnership with Macmillan – whether through taking part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, running the London Marathon, or jumping out of planes.
The free meals for nurses is just one of a number of activities that the Walls End will be doing this year to support the charity.
Rachel Gascoigne, partnership manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “Our nurses and other professionals work hard to help people affected by cancer, not just with medical support, but also providing much needed emotional and practical support, so it’s wonderful to see their work recognised on International Nurses’ Day.
“We want to thank the Walls End and everyone at Greene King for their generosity in helping to show our professionals how much their work is appreciated throughout Macmillan May – a month long fundraiser, which will see Greene King pubs across the country coming together to support the charity.
“This is a truly lovely gesture and a brilliant way to kick off our sixth year as Greene King’s national charity partner.”
