An investigation has been launched following a property fire in Whitley Bay last night.
After receiving a call about the blaze on Holly Avenue at 9.26pm, Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service sent two fire engines - one from Wallsend and one from Tynemouth - to the scene.
The firefighters arrived at 9.34pm and after dealing with the fire, they left at 10.01pm.
As well as stating that an investigation into the cause of the fire is under way, a spokeswoman for the service said: "A two-storey end terrace garage, with a timber roof and suspended ceiling, was 100 per cent damaged by fire.
"A ground floor storage area, with furniture and household items, was 70 per cent damaged by fire and an adjoining garage was moderately damaged by smoke.
"The house itself was 100 per cent lightly smoke damaged. There was no-one in the property."
