A Whitley Bay business is proving the high street is still the place for shopping by expanding its services online.

Escape Boutique and its sister business Mitchell’s Menswear, which opened last year, have launched their own website after previously taking orders via a third-party site.

Anyone visiting either or will be able to order items from a single domain, while a dedicated blog will keep fashionistas up to date with the latest trends.

Married couple Lisa and Carl Mitchell started Escape Boutique in Park View nearly ten years ago and in that time have seen the street turn into a busy shopping hub.

Lisa said: “The regeneration of the street into a busy shopping area has brought a lot of people into our shops.

“Over the summer I talked to many people taking day trips and holidays in the town, and it became very clear there is a major online market.

“With our previous website, users had to place their orders via a different site but our new website, they can shop and pay in one place.

“This one-click ordering system is a big improvement and we’re confident it will lead to a boost in online sales.”
