The team - most of them only 18-years-old - beat the league champions, Forest Hall, who had won the league and a cup double without losing all season and conceding less than 12 goals all season.

The Boys Club beat them 3-2 in ahard-fought match with Hall being reduced to 10 men just before half time.

Alex McGuire scored twice for Whitley Bay to secure victory after an own goal in the first half.

It was real Roy of the Rovers stuff for the underdogs to beat the champions in their very last game.

The team, and head coach, Simon Moody have decided to call it a day after 10 years.

The cup win was quite a way to finish.
