Thousands of people turned out to watch the skies above Whitley Bay lit up in spectacular fashion.
More than 10,000 people were at The Links on Sunday night for the annual fireworks display, organised by North Tyneside Council.
The event also helped kick off this year’s Winter Festival.
There were fairground rides and sideshows with refreshments available and conditions were ideal for the display.
Coun Eddie Darke, cabinet member for leisure, culture and tourism, said: “The display was a great way to get this year’s Winter Festival off with a bang.
“We were delighted to welcome so many people to The Links and look forward to seeing them at the many festive events and activities we have coming up.”
