Witness appeal after North Tyneside robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was slashed across the face in North Tyneside.

It happened on Friday, May 1, between 9pm and 10pm. A 48-year-old man was walking along Saville Street in North Shields when an unknown man approached him, threatening him and demanding money and his phone.

The man refused and he was slashed across the face with a sharp article. The offender made off towards the magistrates’ court. The man suffered a facial injury which required hospital treatment.

The offender is described as a man approximately 6’2” tall, wearing dark clothing with the hood of his jacket up.

Police are appealing for witnesses anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police.
