Work to take place on part of Metro line
Metro passengers are being reminded that part of the network will be closed in North Tyneside this weekend.
There will be no trains running between Benton and North Shields on Saturday and Sunday to allow for modernisation work.
And the line closure will also be in place the following weekend – March 12 and 13.
Trains will be running from St James to North Shields, and Benton to South Shields.
A spokesperson for Nexus said: “During the work, frequent replacement buses will be running, calling at or close to all stations between Four Lane Ends and North Shields.
“The replacement bus stops at Benton are about a five-minute walk from the station, if you intend to travel beyond Benton (towards Whitley Bay) board the replacement bus at Four Lane Ends.
“If you’re travelling towards Benton from Whitley Bay and wish to travel beyond Benton, remain on the replacement bus service until Four Lane Ends.”

l Elsewhere, the car park at Cullercoats Metro Station will be closed until April 25 for planned work.
