Young artwork to highlight the borough’s coastline

ARTISTIC children are being invited to take part in a project inspired by the borough’s coastline.

North Tyneside Council has commissioned visual artist Elizabeth Kane to run five free drop-in sessions for children aged under 13.

They will be held at the former X-Catalogue store, in Park View Shopping Centre, Whitley Bay, from Monday, October 24, to Friday, October 28, from 10.30am to 3pm each day.

Elizabeth, a fully qualified art teacher, has previously run workshops in a variety of settings, including Wallsend Festival.

Children will work together with the artist to create an art installation inspired by the borough’s world-class coast, making a range of sea creatures using collage.

When all the work is completed it will be shown in a pop-up exhibition in Whitley Bay.

At busy times a queuing system will operate as there is only space for a maximum of eight children at any one time.

Children should wear appropriate clothing and must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
