Two youngsters from North Tyneside have given up their spare time to raise funds for charity.
Jess Wallace and her friend Lyla Latif, who are both 12, organised a bake sale to support Macmillan’s Big Coffee Morning.
The Marden High School pupils baked cupcakes, cakes and scones and distributed flyers to neighbours living in Preston Grange.
The youngsters then held their sale from the garage at Jess’ house, selling their homemade goodies to neighbours on a Saturday afternoon.
Jess’ dad Steve said: “They were so enthusiastic and desperate to support such a good cause which means a lot to both families.
“Despite living in a little cul-de-sac on Preston Grange, the generosity and support of the neighbours and the girls’ families was incredible and the girls managed to raise an amazing £161.45.
“They have since printed out thank-you cards to the neighbours who can’t believe the amount raised.”
