IKEA recalls bicycle due to injury fears

IKEA has recalled its range of SLADDA bicycles, amid fears that the drive belt could snap, resulting in injury to the rider.

The Swedish homeware giant has been informed by a component supplier of safety issues with the bicycle's drive belt. It has been found that the belt can suddenly snap, which in turn can lead to falls.

IKEA say that they have received 11 reports of such incidents, with two minor injuries consisting of bruises and scratches.

Product recall

Customers who own a SLADDA bicycle are advised to stop using it and return the bike to any IKEA store for a full refund.

Accessories specifically designed to fit with SLADDA will also be refunded. Proof of purchase / receipt is not required.
