This time-lapse video shows 1000-bed coronavirus hospital being built in just 10 days

One of two coronavirus quarantine hospitals in China has received its first patients after construction started ten days ago.

According to Chinese state media, the 1,000 bed Huoshenshan hospital, which means "Fire God Mountain", was completed last night and received its first patients at around 10am local time on Monday (2am GMT).

The facility in Central China is staffed by 1,400 doctors and nurses brought in by the Chinese military and boasts 30 intensive care units and state of the art technology.

So far no information revealing patient identities or their conditions has been given.

During the 2003 Sars epidemic, the Chinese government erected Xiaotangshan Hospital in seven days, demonstrating China's ability to build emergency infrastructure quickly.

The death toll from Coronavirus is now 361, with 475 recoveries, exceeding the death rate of Sars.

A staff of 7,000 workers built the prefabricated hospital inside the quarantined city of Wuhan, where the disease first originated.

The entire province of Hubei has been locked off from the rest of China for over a week and protests have erupted in Hong Kong to enforce a border closure with China.

On Sunday, the death toll from Coronavirus rose by 57, a few days after the World Health Organisation declared the epidemic a global health emergency.

Over 17,000 cases of the virus have been confirmed in China, with 150 confirmed outside, including two people in the UK.
