A Seahorses win vital to stay in touch with league leaders

WHITLEY Bay will be looking for a return to winning ways when they face Consett at Hillheads on Saturday.

Ian Chandler’s team have drawn their last three games and in their first home outing of 2012 they will be up against a Consett side who are struggling in the lower half of the table.

This is an unfamiliar position for the side that edged Whitley out of the runners-up position last season, but the Steelmen have lost their last five.

Whitley were resounding 4-0 winners when the sides met at Bell Vue Park back in September and need to pick up all three points if they are to remain in touch with the league leaders.

David Coulson returns after his one match suspension and Craig McFarlane will be hoping to play at least some part in the game as he continues his comeback following injury.

In addition to winning Saturday’s game, Whitley will be hoping to avoid any injuries as they prepare for the following weekend’s fourth round FA Vase tie at home to Surrey side South Park.
