WHITLEY Bay FC Barca Under-9s stretched their unbeaten run to nine games with a hard fought 4-0 victory over a strong Ponteland side at the weekend.
The team, who had not played together for six weeks, looked rusty at the start but took the lead midway through the first quarter when a powerful shot from the edge of the area from Dreyer flew past the Ponteland keeper.
Dreyer doubled the lead in the second quarter when fine approach work from Bobby Johnston left the striker with the simplest of tap-ins.
Dreyer completed his hat-trick in the third quarter, latching on to a through ball from Owen Armstong before finding the bottom corner past the on-rushing keeper.
Owen Armstrong completed the scoring in the final quarter, taking the ball round the exposed keeper before rolling the ball into the empty net.
Ponteland had few chances during the match as the Whitley Bay defence battled strongly though Smith in goal made a couple of outstanding saves when the Whitley Bay goal was threatened.
