Bohemians put five past Bedlington Juniors

Gosforth Bohemian Reserves moved up to fourth in the table after a 5-3 win at Bedlington Juniors.

David Hodgson was their main man as he celebrated a hat-trick, with Paul Mulhearn and Kevin Turmbull also on target. Dean Fitch bagged a brace for Bedlington, with Ethan Paige also scoring.

West Jesmond remain unbeaten but have drawn half of their 12 games after a 1-1 draw with Blyth Town Reserves, with both goals coming in the final eight minutes. Town took the lead through a penalty, with Ed Shanks netting the Jesmond goal with five minutes left on the clock.

Wardley picked up a much-needed win, 3-2 at Ponteland United Reserves, to complete a double over Kennie Malia’s side. Daniel Mupungu and Cameron Robb scored for Pont, but Anthony Kew and Dean Kirtley (2) won it for the away side.

Newcastle Chemfica Reserves also gained three important points at Newcastle Medicals. Carl Lattimer celebrated a pair and Craig Robinson also scored for Fica, with Ross Brown netting for Medicals.

The remaining league game between Ryton & Crawcrook Albion Reserves and Newcastle East End was postponed owing to the wintry weather.

In the quarter-finals of the Tyneside Amateur Challenge Shield, Hazlerigg Victory saw off Forest Hall YPC 4-0 in a game which was tougher than the scoreline suggests. The prolific Dale Pearson scored another two goals, with Alex Patterson and an own goal completing the scoring.

Finally, Lindisfarne Custom Planet Reserves dropped out of the Northumberland FA Minor Cup at the quarter-final stage. They were in the game at 2-1 down on the hour, and ten minutes later were only adrift 4-2, but tailed off in the latter stages to go down 9-2.
