FOLLOWING on from their midweek cup win over Blyth Rangers, Whitley Bay Boys Club Whites took all three points in their league fixture against Ponteland Jaguars.
The Whites wasted no time in setting out their intentions for the game, when in the second minute Harry Richardson’s shot from outside the box was saved by the Ponteland keeper.
They continued to press and with only four minutes on the clock, Jake Hill raced down the right wing before beating two defenders and slotting the ball past the Jaguars keeper.
The Whites soon made it 2-0 when Nathan Lea took on three defenders and fired a low shot into the left corner of the goal.
Ponteland had a great chance of their own when their striker hit the bar from distance.
Whites’ Sam Petty had put in a few good corners and it was from one that Oliver Harrison made it 3-0, rising above the Jaguars defence to head the ball home.
The Jaguars pressed hard for a goal but were denied by Whites keeper Fred McKenzie.
At the start of the second half, Nathan Lea and Ben Reid had to be at their best to stop the Jaguars forwards from scoring.
The Jaguars got themselves back into the game with two well taken goals.
The first was a wonderful strike from outside the box and the second was straight from a free kick after the Whites failed to make a wall and were punished when a low drive went in off the post.
Chris Allen extended the lead with a fine effort.
The Whites were firmly in control of the game when Harrison netted his second of the day, latching onto a loose ball in the six-yard box and coolly poking it home.
