An under-16’s football team has secured sponsorship from a major housing association.
Killingworth KYPC Cobras U16s received more than £600 from Riverside through its community chest fund, which enabled them to purchase new strips for the team.
KYPC Cobras play at Amberley Playing Fields on Sundays in the NABC League.
Team manager John Celino said: “The local lads of the community do what they love best.
“The boys are all hard working and dedicated and football teaches them to work together as well as individuals and enables them to gain skills that can help them in the future.”
He added: “We are really looking forward to what will hopefully be another successful season and wearing our new kit.”
Steve Ward, Riverside’s director, said: “We are delighted to be able to support this local team.
“Football is a great way of keeping fit and teaching the teenagers about team spirit and working together.
“We wish the team the best of luck for the forthcoming season.”
