Cullercoats FC opened their Northern Alliance division one campaign on Saturday with a comprehensive home victory over a young Hebburn Reyrolle side at Links Avenue.
The game got off to a flying start with early goals from both teams.
Cullercoats opened the scoring on six minutes when striker John Amos beat the offside trap to break clear and slot the ball past the Hebburn keeper.
The away side levelled five minutes later with a well taken effort before forward Dan Olusoga restored the home side’s advantage when he also broke the offside trap and slid the ball home to make the score 2-1.
Olusoga again went close on the half hour before he increased the lead on ten minutes later when he slotted home from close range to make the score 3-1 at the break.
Cullercoats continued to press after the break and increased their lead when central midfielder Andrew McClay showed great desire to win the ball inside the box and dispatch a shot into the top of the net from the edge of the six-yard box.
A headed own goal on the hour wrapped up the scoring at 5-1.
Home keeper David Cooper made two fine second half saves to maintain the four-goal advantage in what was an impressive display on his debut.
Cullercoats travel to Wallsend Boys Club on Saturday, August 15, kick-off 2.30pm.
