Cullercoats FC Under-21s returned to winning ways on Sunday with a 3-0 derby success at Whitley Bay FC.
This followed a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Forest Hall the previous weekend.
In an evenly fought first half Cullercoats took the lead when Hylton Hub was put through the centre with a fine long ball from skipper Lloyd Leigh and he ran through and slotted the ball past the keeper.
Both teams had chances to score more in an entertaining first half but both keepers came out on top.
Cullercoats extended their lead after the break with a thunderous shot from the right edge of the 18-yard box from Jake Greener which flew into the far top left hand corner of the net.
The points were sealed with a second goal from Hub when he dribbled through the Bay defence and scored.
Dave Cooper made an excellent late save down to his left to keep out Whitley Bay, who continued to drive forward in search of a consolation goal.
Cullercoats travel back to Forest Hall next weekend in the quarter-final of the League Shield Cup; kick-off 2pm.
