Cullercoats Under-21s opened their Northumberland U21 League campaign with a hard fought and entertaining home draw against a well drilled and competitive Forest Hall FC.
The game was played to a high standard throughout with both sides creating good first half opportunities.
Forest Hall created a couple of good chances to take the lead in the second half and home keeper David Cooper made a spectacular save on the line on 75 minutes to keep out a first time volley.
It was an afternoon when the away team found the Cullercoats defence to be in resolute form and Cooper to be superb in goal.
Cullercoats pressed for a late winner through efforts from striker Jake Greener and attacking midfielder Hylton Hub, but the game ended level at 0-0.
Cooper was rightly awarded man of the match for his superb display in goal. Cullercoats U21s have a free weekend before entertaining their new U21 colleagues, Cullercoats Doves on Sunday, September 20, at Links Avenue, with a 2pm kick-off.
