They were looking to bounce back from a disappointing League Cup quarter-final exit the week before.

Left midfielder Stephen Moat struck the right post on seven minutes before central midfielder Hylton Hub, opened the scoring on when he broke through and slotted home.

The away side levelled early into the second half following a handball and penalty award.

Newcastle Chemfica then pressed, but it was the home side who took the lead on 75 minutes when Hub was put through on the left slide of the box by Leame Robinson. Hub’s shot was parried and finished off at close range by striker Jake Greener.

Martin Cobley broke free from the defence on 90 minutes and was brought down in the penalty area. Hub dispatched the penalty to make the final score 3-1.

Elliot Mitchell was named man of the match for an excellent defensive display.
