Cullercoats Under-21s travelled to unbeaten Newcastle Chemfica in the Northumberland Under-21 League on Sunday.
The game was played to a high standard throughout with both teams creating chances from the off.
Stephen Moat opened the scoring for Cullercoats on seven minutes with a well taken effort into the bottom left corner of the net after breaking into the box.
However, Chemfica levelled four minutes later with a well taken goal from a through ball.
But central defender Lloyd Leigh regained the lead for Cullercoats on 20 minutes with a superb free kick from 30 yards which flew into the top of the net to make it 2-1.
Chemfica continued to press on the break and levelled before edging in front just before half-time to make it 3-2 to the home side at the break.
Cullercoats came flying out of the blocks in the second half and created a string of chances, including a shot which hit the left post before midfielder Momin Razaq levelled with a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.
Jake Greener then broke down the right and delivered a cross for Dan Tweddle whose first time shot was superbly saved at the post by the home keeper.
However, Tweddle was not to be denied and he made it 4-3 ten minutes from time with an excellent left foot drive.
Razaq completed the scoring with his second goal of the game to make the final score 5-3 to Cullercoats and maintain their own uneaten league record.
Goalkeeper Dave Cooper was named man of the match after another excellent display in the Cullercoats goal.
The U21s have a free weekend before returning to league action away to Forest Hall on November 1 with a 2pm kick-off.
