Cullercoats FC Under-12s continued their unbeaten run in 2015 with an excellent display at high-flying Stocksfield in the NEYDL League.
On a weekend where most fixtures fell to bad weather conditions, the two sides but on an entertaining contest.
Stocksfield struck first from a free kick on the edge of the penalty area, which was brilliantly saved by Bailey Askwith as he turned the kick onto his post, but the home side were quickest to react and poke the rebound into the net.
However, Cullercoats went on to dominate the first half, creating a number of chances.
They drew level through a fantastic long range effort from Samuel Warren, who intercepted a Stocksfield goal kick in the centre circle before moving the ball forward and striking an unbelievable effort to make it 1-1.
The home side then scored a second goal against the run of play just before half-time with a far post tap-in to make it 2-1 to Stocksfield at the break.
Cullercoats responded well after the interval and were level again within three minutes of the restart.
The team pressed the play in the attacking third and Kai Hay won possession before going on a solo run to beat two defenders and slot the ball past the home keeper to level the score at 2-2.
The remainder of the game was keenly contested by both teams, with Cullercoats continuing to make the running. However, neither team were able to force the winner and the game finished all square.
Keeper Askwith was awarded man of the match for an excellent display in which he made several saves, protected his defence by sweeping at the back, and made one extremely brave save at the feet of an opposing player.
The result means that Cullercoats remain unbeaten in league and cup competitions in 2015.
