Two excellent goals at the right time from Marcus Holmes helped send Cullercoats United 15s through to the Pinpoint Challenge Trophy final as they beat Blyth Spartans.
Spartans took the lead early on when a cross from Lewis Parker was turned into his own goal by the unfortunate David Shipley.
Shipley made amends just two minutes later when he scored direct from a corner before Jamie Watson restored Spartans’ lead from the penalty spot midway through the half.
Holmes scored the first of his brace on the stroke of half-time to level up at 2-2.
The second half could have gone either way but Cullercoats’ superior fitness paid off in the last ten minutes as Holmes danced his way into the box to put United ahead at 3-2 before further strikes from Dan Morton and Aaron Dixon sent Cullercoats through to Meet Amble in the final.
