The game kicked off in a high tempo with Wylam flying out the traps, but Cullercoats slowly edged their way back in the game and took the lead on 14 minutes when Holly Chatterton turned a Wylam defender in the box and struck a sweet left foot into the bottom corner.

The goal gave Cullercoats the lift they needed and they went 2-0 up when Saffy Hogarth hit a speculative shot which the home keeper failed to deal with.

Cullercoats made it 3-0 before the break when Mia Wallace sent in a great delivery from out wide and a back-tracking home defender got a touch and deflected into the home net to make it 3-0 at the break.

The second half saw a revival from the home side who were rewarded with a goal when Cullercoats failed to clear.

The home side pressed for the second, but Cullercoats defended well and were unlucky not to get a fourth when they broke and a Wallace attempt went inches wide.

Paige Longstaff was just edged out of player of the match by the improving Mackenzie Leck.
