Action from the game at Croft Park.

The contest was held to celebrate ten years long service by ten Whitley Bay players, in what was an emotional night for their coaches.

Whitley created the best early chances and went on to strike the woodwork on three occasions in the first half.

The breakthrough came on 38 minutes when Ethan Logan-Ross turned sharply in the box and dispatched an excellent left foot shot into the far corner of the net to make it 1-0 to Cullercoats at the break.

Whitley again made the early running in the second half, but Cullercoats rallied and extended their lead on 65 minutes when Callum Ross played a ball over the defence for Hylton Hub to convert a superb shot into the right corner of the net to make it 2-0.

Callum Ross was then put clean through on 74 minutes and sent over a delightful lob to make it 3-0.

Whitley rallied late on with two late strikes in the final five minutes to make the final score 3-2.

It was a richly deserved ending after the Whitley lads worked tirelessly all night in search of goals.

Both teams extended a huge thanks to Blyth Spartans for hosting the event.

Cullercoats U21s have one remaining home game and then a Charity Shield Cup final to look forward to in the coming weeks.
