Flying start for Forest Hall YTPC in Amateur League

Forest Hall YPC have made a flying start to their debut season in the Tyneside Amateur League.

They moved to the summit on Saturday as they beat Wardley 4-0 to record their third straight win after a 2-0 success at Lindisfarne Custom Planet Reserves in midweek was added to their opening day victory.

Hazlerigg Victory are hot on their heels after also racking up three wins on the bounce.

Firstly a Louis Sneddon goal saw off Ponteland United Reserves on Wednesday. They then went 4-0 down to North Shields Athletic Reserves, with Leeroy Odd and Matthew Donkin both bagging braces for Shields. However, Victory fought back to win 6-4, with Jack Bates also netting a double, and Darren Howey, Mark Davison, Sean Gent and Ryan Graham completing the fightback.

Athletic had hit six themselves on Wednesday against Blyth Town Reserves, who could only muster two in reply, one of which was an own goal, with the other from Ryan Knight. The in-form Odd celebrated a hat-trick for Shields, with Alex Hline netting twice and Simon Honeywood also on target.

That result is the only blot on Town’s copybook so far, as they made it six points out of nine with a 4-0 win over Newcastle Medicals on Saturday. Knight was on target again, as were Sam Watts and David Stewart (2).

Stobswood Welfare followed up their North East Amateur Challenge Shield success with a 2-1 win over Bedlington Juniors, with Steve Gibbard netting both of their goals. They then shared the spoils with Ponteland in an exciting contest which ended 3-3. Myles Candlish, Adam Foster and Ryan Murphy scored for Pont, with both Rob Baker (2) and Jacob Baker on target for Welfare.

Bedlington Juniors recorded their first win in the league away to Newcastle Chemfica Reserves, with Andrew Dodds and Darren Percy (2) netting their goals. Colin Cooney scored for Fica, who had recovered from 3-1 down to win 4-3 at Wardley three days earlier.

Finally, West Jesmond got their campaign off to a winning start as goals from Michael Robinson and Ed Shanks gave them a 2-0 win over Lindisfarne Custom Planet Reserves.
